Minutes of an extraordinary meeting of the Hatch Beauchamp Parish Council held in the Village Hall on Wednesday 20 June 2007 at7.30pm. 

Present:- Mr Fowler (in the chair), Mrs P Kent, Messrs Downie, Green and Parsons.

1432 Declarations of interst
            Mrs P Kent declared a personal interest in minute 1433 (Proposals for a unitary authority for Somerset) by virtue of her employment)

1433 Proposals for a unitary authority for Somerset
            Mr Justin Robinson, Mr Mark Stone and Mr Roger Kershaw of SCC spoke to the proposals for a unitary authority for Somerset which had been prepared by the County Council in response to the Government’s White Paper “Strong and Prosperous Communities” and answered questions put by members.  Mr Brendan Cleere of TDBC spoke to the “Team Somerset” proposals which had been prepared by the District Councils in Somerset  as an alternative response to the White Paper, and also answered questions from members

RESOLVED that
            1) all parties be thanked for attending the meeting and explaining the proposals
            2) the Council supports the unitary authority approach for the provision of local authority services

Chairman
